The Wisconsin AFL-CIO is hitting the ground running to elect David Crowley as Wisconsin’s next governor, and we need union members, family, friends, and allies to help us talk with voters across the state.
Whether you prefer knocking doors or making calls from home, there are several opportunities to get involved. Every conversation helps build the power we need to elect leaders who will stand with working families, protect workers’ rights, and fight for strong unions.

David Crowley has an opportunity to be a strong voice for working people in the governor’s office, but winning will take all of us doing our part. A few hours of your time can make a real difference.
When working people stand together, we win together!

FAIR CONTRACT NOW FOR
ST. MARY’S HOSPITAL & DEAN CLINIC NURSES

In the face of declining standards and diminished resources for bedside care, nurses and other staff at St. Mary's Hospital and Dean clinics are building their union to advocate for better patient care, fair pay and improved working conditions.
With a seat at the bargaining table, nurses and other staff will have the power to ensure the hospital and clinics are excellent places to work and receive care. We, the undersigned, support them because we know that staff with a union voice will raise the standard of care for our community.
We call on SSM to refrain from union busting and come to the bargaining table now.

NOLSW, UAW Local 2320
After 12 collective bargaining sessions over the last six months, the United Legal Workers, NOLSW, UAW 2320, demands Legal Action take immediate action to commit to higher wages for the Union’s lowest paid workers.
“I’ve been working at Legal Action as a paralegal for four years and I can only afford my monthly rent in Madison because I have three roommates,” reports Konnor Denzine, United Legal Workers Madison Co-Coordinator and bargaining team member.
Legal Action has repeatedly rejected the Union’s proposals to increase non-attorney salaries to actual living wages. And it’s not because they don’t have the money. Instead, Legal Action claims these salaries are in line with market rates. Under Legal Action’s proposal, starting salaries for legal secretaries and trainee legal advocates are about $19/ hour and for paralegals, just over $20. According to the National Low Income Housing Coalition, a Dane County renter needs to make more than $24/hour to afford a studio apartment and more than $28/hour to afford a one bedroom apartment.
“Our members should not have to be living with their parents or pawning off their personal property to pay their bills every month,” said Caitlin Noonan, Milwaukee member President and bargaining team member.
Legal Action is a Wisconsin non-profit legal aid organization which purports to value equity and states a vision to ”dismantle systems of oppression which cause inequity, like racism, sexism, classism, ableism, ageism, and homophobia”. The ULW is asking Legal Action to practice what it preaches and come to the bargaining table with a living wage proposal.
United Legal Workers consists of unionized attorneys in the Madison and Milwaukee Office and unionized paralegals, legal trainee advocates, and a legal secretary in the Madison Office of Legal Action of Wisconsin, Inc. ULW is a unit of National Organization of Legal Services Workers, UAW Local 2320, AFL-CIO.

Conversations that Count
November 12, 2026
5:30 - 7:30 pm
Madison Labor Temple
Free class hosted by the South Central Federation of Labor.
To have successful conversations about important issues, we need to learn to set aside “message delivery” and “persuasion” and adopt a “learning stance” that involves asking questions and listening. In this workshop, we will learn an approach to conversations that can be used when:
-
Talking to members about getting involved in their union
-
Talking to non-members about joining in open shops
-
Talking to non-union workers about unionization
-
Talking to anyone about politics and the economy (including your relatives)
You will learn ways to create a dialogue, approach every conversation with curiosity, understand their point of view, explain your point of view, and work together to create a shared understanding. Our goal is not to change people’s minds – but to help them change their own minds.
Please sign the petition to Kristie Maurer, owner of Maurer's Market that is opening on Park Street near the Madison Labor Temple, asking her to sign a neutrality / card check agreement with UFCW, Local 1473!
Many employers, big and small, have done this, as it benefits the workplace and the business as well. When they do sign an agreement, it demonstrates their commitment to giving their employees a voice on the job.
The Park Street location is Madison's second busiest corridor, regularly traveled by many of our Union and community members on their way to and from work. There are many unions, non-profits, and community members who work at, hold events at, or visit the Madison Labor Temple, just down the block from the new grocery store. They want to support and shop at a store where workers have strong, family-sustaining union jobs backed by a collective bargaining agreement!

Congress must act: Stop the Forest Service workforce dismantlement

Tens of thousands of U.S. Forest Service employees represented by the National Federation of Federal Employees (NFFE-IAM) are urging members of Congress to oppose the Trump administration's announced plan to relocate Forest Service headquarters to Salt Lake City, Utah, and eliminate all regional offices.
This is not a management reform. It is a reckless dismantlement of the workforce and institutional structure responsible for managing more than 193 million acres of national forests and grasslands that belong to the American people.
As we participate in any form of protest, rally, action, or event, it’s important to know our rights.
The National AFL-CIO sent out the following from the ACLU: KNOW YOUR RIGHTS:
"The First Amendment protects your right to assemble and express your views through protest. However, police and other government officials are allowed to place certain narrow restrictions on the exercise of speech rights. Make sure you’re prepared by brushing up on your rights before heading out into the streets.”
